What is Hyperhidrosis?
Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition characterised by excessive sweating beyond what is necessary for regulating body temperature. Botulinum Toxin is one of the ways this can be treated. This injectable is produced by a bacteria called Clostridium botulinum and is used in very small doses. The toxin is injected just below the skin surface in the area being treated. The toxin reduces the ability of the skin to produce sweat.
How quickly does it work and how long will it last?
The effects of the injections usually come on over 3-14 days though this varies from person to person. What are the products used?

At TK Aesthetics we use the original BOTOX® produced by Allergan® or Bocouture® from Merz®. These products have been around for many years and have been used for decades in medical practice with a significant amount of research published about their efficacy and safety.
Are they safe?
Botulimum Toxin injections are a prescription only medication and as with all medications carry the risk of some side effects (see here). BOTOX® (Botulinum Toxin Type A) has been in medical use now for over 20 years and has one of the best safety profiles of all of the Botulinum Toxin products.
However as with any medical treatment or procedure it is important that you discuss any concerns about the potential risk and side effects with your medical professional and satisfy yourself that you are happy to proceed with the treatment.
